I had a similar, intermittent issue because I was using a switch to link
2-3 but the connector was designed for a larger size than the J15 header,
so it would make a bad contact. Fixed by soldering the switch to the pins ;)
is there any other way to reprogram the bootloader?
I think the bootloader is supposed to enter fastboot mode if you link J15
