After following the instructions in the Quick Start Guide for booting from SD card I receive:
[tux.img][tux.img][tux.img][tux.img][tux.img][tux.img][tux.img][tux.img] [STAMP] kvm [1]: HYP mode not available [STAMP] of_dma_request_slave_channel: dma-names property of node '/smb/uart@f8015000' missing or empty [STAMP] hisi_thermal f7030700.tsensor: THERMAL ALARM: T > 80 <DEAD>
Has anyone else seen this? Is it a known issue, or all-my-fault(tm)?
NB: This is 'hikey-jessie_alip_20150701-323.img'. Booting 'hikey-jessie_developer_20150701-323.emmc.img' from eMMC works fine.
Kind regards, Lee

there's a known issue in the latest builds however build #323 should work. https://bugs.96boards.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100

Hooked up a serial cable and raised the loglevel.
For some reason the kernel isn't finding the SD card:

there's a known issue in the latest builds however build #323 should work. https://bugs.96boards.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100

FWIW, can’t follow the links you included for the “winner”.
I had similar problems where it was a little touchy as far as what SD cards would work.
SDHC has been the most successful for me. The higher capacity SDXC media while supported at the hardware level, last I looked weren’t supported by the driver, tho I really really hope that was being fixed.
Best, Tom

Hi, Lee, Fathi
I updated this bug, it's not reproduced with the following images:
UEFI #72, boot img: Debian 354, https://builds.96boards.org/snapshots/hikey/linaro/debian/354/boot-fat.uefi....
Debian developer image for SD card: hikey-jessie_developer_20150929-354.img,
booting from SD card can succeed.
NB: This is 'hikey-jessie_alip_20150701-323.img'. Booting
'hikey-jessie_developer_20150701-323.emmc.img' from eMMC works fine.
Debian #323 looks quite old to me. I will not recommend you to waste time on it.
BTW, one side-note to Fathi,
With Debian #354, boot image is always in eMMC. Can we choose to load grub from SD card then load Image from SD's boot partition?
Ref: when booting from SD card: root@linaro-developer:~# mount
/dev/mmcblk1p2 on / type ext4 (rw,relatime,errors=remount-ro,data=ordered) /dev/mmcblk0p6 on /boot type vfat (rw,relatime,fmask=0022,dmask=0022,codepage=437,iocharset=iso8859-1,shortname=mixed,errors=remount-ro) ...

Lee,
Two comments.
1. Fastboot bootloader is obsolete in latest snapshot build of HiKey. For snapshot you downloaded from https://builds.96boards.org/snapshots/hikey/linaro/debian/, please use UEFI as bootloader.
Here is the latest guide: https://github.com/96boards/documentation/wiki/LatestSnapshots When we make a next release for Hikey, this webpage will become the new 'Getting started guide'.
2. However, Snapshot #323 has all SD/MMC patches we have for HiKey. After you updated to UEFI, would you try your card (Kingstone 16G class10, SDHC, UHS 1 Class 1. ) again? It should have been supported. Please let me know your results. Especially if it doesn't work.
Thanks.

- Missing modules (cat /proc/modules; ls /dev)

Has anyone else seen this? Is it a known issue, or all-my-fault(tm)?
there's a known issue in the latest builds however build #323 should
work.

NB: This is 'hikey-jessie_alip_20150701-323.img'. Booting 'hikey-jessie_developer_20150701-323.emmc.img' from eMMC works fine.

Lee,
Two comments.
In the board recovery section the link to AOSP boot tarball is incorrect. It should be https://builds.96boards.org/snapshots/hikey/linaro/aosp/latest/boot_fat.uefi...
